Free Training Weights Review
Free weight exercise is a low tech, economical option
for strength training and muscle toning. It takes proper technique and
co-ordination to handle free weights properly. This makes for a more
challenging workout. Proper instruction is highly recommended as improper
technique can lead to injury. If you are using heavier barbells and
a bench routine, you will need a "spotter" so you don't end up pinned!
If you don't have a training partner, it is safer to use dumbbells.
One of the best ways to lose weight is to build calorie-burning
muscles. Free weights exercise routines add more variety. It is a good
idea to change the routines regularly.
Start with at least 4 or 5 pairs of dumbbells ranging
in weight from 2.5 to 45 pounds. Purchase them in 5 to 10 pound increments.
For a 20 pound barbell you will also need weight plates
- four of each of 10, 5 and 2.5 pound sizes - plus a bench.
